Smaller government and less entitlements is not a new idea. The problem is people do not want to get off the government tit. But it is unsustainable and will eventually fail.

ReplyDeleteEBL -- who are the "people" on the gov't. tit? That would be all of us -- until people stop looking at themselves as special, righteous snowflakes there will be no smaller government. But you know that; like you probably already know that it's failing right now -- and neither side really wants to do anything helpful; it's just a game of "gonna get me mine -- 1 for my peeps and 2 for my toadies, and 4 for me". How are you going to get that principled, smaller, responsible government out of any of that?
