If you have a vagina and a uterus you are female.

I would define it by xx and xy chromosomes, but occasionally you get an xy who is essentially female. They are physically female because of a hormonal deficiency in utero developed female (but they lack ovaries and uterus and cannot have children).
That bearded mom could be a normal woman with a hormone imbalance -- there was a girl down here that had that...poor thing; she wasn't half bad looking but for that mutton chop. (no, she couldn't get hormone therapy -- she was a grit and dirt poor)
