  1. not sure why you categorize acupuncture as new age, as it's been an effective form of medicine since ancient times. in spite of the fact that modern science is unable to offer a rational or empirical explanation for how or why such an esoteric practice could possibly work, the fact of the matter is that acupuncture really works. plain and simple. it works. i highly recommend that you try it yourself before dismissing it altogether. i agree with you totally that there are many forms of alternative medicine that have no basis for being effective or safe, but i don't think it's quite fair to lump acupuncture among the rest of the quackery that's out there.
