Who Is He And What Is He To You?

Here's a good story to follow - and act on:

Above is a photo of the Viscount Monckton of Brenchley - Margaret Thatcher's weather guy. A few days ago, the American Physical Society posted a paper by him on climate change. The American Physical Society requested the paper. He submitted it. He also dissed the UN, the IPCC, it's methods, and it's claims. The American Physical Society posted an editor's comments, with the Viscount's paper, that said:

"There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution."

All well and good, until, later, the American Physical Society added a disclaimer - in red - to the Viscount's paper, stating:

"The following article has not undergone any scientific peer review. Its conclusions are in disagreement with the overwhelming opinion of the world scientific community. The Council of the American Physical Society disagrees with this article's conclusions."

So, on one day, we have "a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion," but, on the next day, there's an "overwhelming opinion of the world scientific community" to be dealt with. Weird, huh? Lord Monckton thinks so. So he's asked for an apology. And, since his paper was peer reviewed - and requested - he also wants to know some specifics about how all this late-breaking double talk came about:

"Let me have the name and qualifications of the member of the Council or advisor to it who considered my paper before the Council ordered the offending text to be posted above my paper; a copy of this rapporteur's findings and ratio decidendi; the date of the Council meeting at which the findings were presented; a copy of the minutes of the discussion; and a copy of the text of the Council's decision, together with the names of those present at the meeting."

Damn it - NewAgers hate that kind of stuff - which is exactly why TMR thinks the American Physical Society should be forced to divulge it. Get all the players, with the appropriate paperwork, out in the open. Lets see what they said, and why, so any conspiracy theories (about a Global Warming "Wannsee conference") can clearly be laid to rest, hmm? It would seem to be the right thing to do - so let's request that they do it:

Write a letter to the American Physical Society, simply asking when they're going to deliver the documents.

That's it. Just show the minutes of the meeting(s), etc., and everything's all better. But keep in mind: it's the cover-up that always gets 'em - more than the crime - so, though (admittedly) we "deniers" could all be wrong, something tells me the American Physical Society has just headed down that ugly road where someone has some serious 'splainin' to do.

And a look at those documents would be just the kind of thing that would go a long way towards letting critical thinkers know that it's we who have been on a wrong course all along.

And shutting me up is a worthy goal, ain't it?
