Keep Praying

“Tomorrow, we shall achieve the victory, that the kingdom of God may come on earth as it is in heaven, and all those who love the Lord and will vote for Obama, say Amen.”

-- Rev. Joseph Lowery, introducing Michelle Obama to a crowd at Charlotte, North Carolina Ovens Auditorium, as reported in the National Review Online

"Lord, come down in a mighty way and strengthen us so that we can bring down these high gas prices,...Prayer is the answer to every problem in life...We call on God to intervene in the lives of the selfish, greedy people who are keeping these prices high,...Lord, the prices at this pump have gone up since last week. We know that you are able, that you have all the power in the world,..."

-- Rocky Twyman, founder of the "Prayer at the Pump" movement (Oh boy!) as reported on Yahoo! News

This was followed by a modified version of the spiritual, "We Shall Overcome" that went "We'll have lower gas prices, we'll have lower gas prices..." which had to be truly awful.

"If you're doin' business with a religious son of a bitch, get it in writing. His word isn't worth shit, not with the Good Lord tellin' him how to fuck you on the deal."

-- William S. Burroughs, the truly snake-like author of Naked Lunch, making one of his only statements that I've found, in most cases, to be true

  1. While many politicians flaunt their "faith" and claim to be Christians, not as many live their faith, with Jesus Christ living in them. We believe George W. Bush is a man after God's own heart. He is a man who lives in Christ, and obeys God. Like King David, he is not perfect, but he is repentant, humble, and full of the mighty courage that results from trusting the Lord. We believe George W. Bush is a merciful gift from the Lord to an undeserving people. We ask you to join us in constant prayer for our President, his family, his administration, and his country. Constant prayer... urgent prayer... prayer that brings revival to America.

    Read George W. Bush's Testimony

Pray that God would raise up his people to pray for our country and for our President. Pray that the servants of God would be powerfully drawn to pray and intercede every time they hear the President's voice or see the President's face. Pray that the same sense of urgency that went into our prayers for the election would continue now and into the future. Pray that God's people will become diligent prayer warriors. Pray that God's people would be shielded from all evil, especially the evils of apathy and complacency. Pray that all attempts by the devil to stop the prayers of the saints would be futile, and that the prayers of the God's children would be redoubled under such attack.
